4Hein is a multi-subgenre electronic/techno project from Ottawa, Ontario. His music explores the fusion of vintage analog synth textures with modern hardware and production. Ren Armstrong is both the brain and creativity behind 4Hein, and uses the project as a vessel for both artistic expression and technological prowess. His talents lie in a multitude of areas including recording, mixing, mastering, and multi-instrumentalism (including Didgeridoo, Djembe, Cajon, Flute, Tenor Saxophone, Vocals, Synthesizers, Bass, and Electric Guitar). 4Hein is framed as a project rather than simply a musical artist, as Ren uses it to channel his other creative hobbies such as web design, illustration, photography, DJing and audio technology education. The main goal of the 4Hein project is to blur the lines between genre, forms of artistic expression, culture, and time. Inspirations include artists like Aphex Twin, Herbie Hancock, Underworld, 3 Steps Ahead, and The Orb.
